Life Casting FAQs

General Questions:

  1. Where is your studio located? Our studio is in the heart of Brighouse, easily accessible by car and public transport. The address is: Martin House, Martin Street, Brighouse, HD6 1DA

  2. Is your studio baby-friendly? Absolutely! We have a comfortable, warm environment with soft seating, changing facilities, and refreshments available.

  3. Is your studio accessible? I'm afraid this is what makes me the most sad about my studio. It is up on the second floor and accessible by stairs. Having a mum who also uses a wheelchair, I understand how frustrating this is, however if you let me know, I will always acommodate your needs and family and find a suitable alternative. Whether this is bringing a casting set up to your home, or welcoming you into my own home for a casting session. I'll make it work.

  4. Can I bring siblings or other family members? Yes! We welcome family members and siblings. Let us know in advance so we can plan the session accordingly. There is a separate play area for older siblings to use while they wait with toys, films and books.

  5. How long does a casting session last? It depends on the number of casts we are creating, and the age of the people involved. Newborn only sessions usually last around an hour tops to  allow for feeding and settling breaks, but if these aren't needed it can be 30-40 minutes. For multiple family members I usually set aside 30 minutes each, with more intricate casts taking a couple of hours.

  6. What should I bring for my casting session? I recommend bringing a change of clothes for babies, and milk to distract babies with a bottle or breastfeeding. Adults and older children should come in old clothes, or clothing that can be washed at 30 degrees to remove any casting materials. A protective layer will be placed over you so any material that does land on you will be minimal. Toddlers may want to watch something to distract them, or some little treats to keep them occupied.

  7. What if my baby is unsettled during the session? We allow plenty of time for feeding, cuddling, and soothing. Our sessions are relaxed and baby-led.

Booking & Payment Questions:

  1. How do I book a session? You can book online through our website. Follow the BOOK NOW buttons to my booking website, choose a date that suits you and then you'll be asked a few questions and your session fee will be taken. Alternatively, you can send me a message on social media and I'll send your a direct link.

  2. Do I need to pay a deposit? Yes, we require a small deposit to secure your session. This covers materials used to create your casts, and frames. The remaining balance is due on the day once you have made your selections on frames, mounts, and personalisation. Exact pricing will be confirmed on the day if your frames need to be slightly bigger due to hand and feet sizes of those attending.

  3. What payment methods do you accept? We accept cash, card payments, and bank transfers. My booking website takes payments via paypal, however there is the option to pay via card if you follow it through.

  4. What happens if I need to reschedule? We understand that life with a newborn can be unpredictable! Just let us know as soon as possible, and we’ll do our best to accommodate a new date. Sessions will forfeit deposits if you arrive 20 minutes after your session is due tot start without prior notice.

  5. Do you offer payment plans? Yes, we offer flexible payment plans. Contact us to discuss options that work for you.

  6. What if my baby arrives earlier/later than expected? If you’ve booked a newborn session, we recommend contacting us after your baby is born, and we’ll adjust your appointment accordingly, casts can be made at any age, so don't feel pressured to stick to your original date if you need more time to recover.

After the session

  1. How long will it take to receive my castings? The casting process requires that all water is fully removed to ensure long lasting casts. This drying process can take anywhere between 2-6 weeks with larger, adult casts potentially taking longer. I will keep you updated throughout the process. But I aim to have them ready from around 6 weeks after your sessions.

  2. Can I change my order after I leave the studio? Once a month I frame orders are placed, if you need to change your frame choice please notify me ASAP or to check that your frame hasn't already been made. When you are at the studio you will sign a confirmation of your choices, and if your order has already been made, you would have to pay again to make any changes. If you order hasn't been made, I will change the order, and ask for confirmation once again.

  3. Do you post frames out? Unfortunately, due to castings being so bespoke and potentially fragile in their glass      frames, castings won't ever be posted. They can be collected from my studio Mon-Fri at pre-arranged times.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

  1. What if I can’t make it to my session? We understand that things come up, especially with little ones. Please let us know as soon as possible if you’re unable to attend, and we’ll do our best to reschedule.

  2. What happens if my baby or I am unwell on the day of the session? If you or your baby are unwell, we kindly ask that you contact us to reschedule. We want to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all our clients. But also to keep me safe from passing any germs onto my own children.

  3. Can sessions be cancelled by Jupiter Moon? Yes! There are very rare occasions that I have had to cancel sessions, usually this is when I'm poorly or my children are. Due to needing to be so close to you, I always prefer to make sure I'm 100% before being near babies, pregnant mamas and little children. I will notify you as soon as I know I won't be able to do your session, and offer an alternative date, or a full refund of your session fee.

  4. Do I lose my deposit if I need to cancel? If you cancel with enough notice, we can transfer your deposit to a future session. However, if you cancel last-minute without rescheduling, the deposit may be non-refundable. If on the day of your session you arrive late without prior notifiation, your session will be cancelled. Clients who arrive 20 minutes late without notification will forfeit their session fee and their session will be cancelled. You'll need to re-book and pay again for a new date and time.

  5. What if I have an emergency and can’t attend? We completely understand that emergencies happen. Just get in touch with us, and we’ll work with you to find a suitable alternative.

  6. Is there a fee for rescheduling? We don’t charge for rescheduling due to illness or emergencies, but if there is no contact, or you don't let me know in good time, you will have to re-book and pay again for a new date and time.
